ABOUT CHARON PLANNING
Our History
Charon Planning's history is a story of experience, growth and
entrepreneurial spirit that continues to this day.
Charon Planning has been helping employers find cost-effective benefit
solutions since 1993. Under the leadership of the organization’s owners, J.
Lawrence Hager and Christopher Gavigan, Charon Planning quickly evolved into
a growing, full service benefit consulting organization. By 1999 Charon Planning had achieved
regional and national recognition, earning a spot on the fastest growing
privately held companies lists of Inc. Magazine and The Philadelphia Business
Journal.
In 2000 Charon Planning was sold to National Financial Partners (NFP), an
NYSE listed firm that distributes financial and consulting services to
companies and high net worth individuals. Simultaneous to the sale, Charon
Planning's owners formed Charon Management LLC, thereby retaining all
management responsibility and authority for Charon Planning.
The sale provided Charon Planning with access to capital markets and the
means to boost employee commitment and reward through stock ownership. NFP's
national presence also expanded Charon Planning's exposure and ability to serve
clients across the country.
